Read for the Record

Reader with children

Guest reader, Marjorie Burgess with Mitchell Head Start class.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record mobilizes millions of children and adults to celebrate literacy with an effort to break the world record for the most people reading the same book on the same day. On October 21, 2014, our preschool classrooms joined classrooms and libraries across the country to read the children’s book Bunny Cakes, by author and illustrator Rosemary Wells.

School Board Chair Cindy Elsbernd stopped by the Jesse Franklin Taylor Education Center to read to Carissa Coopman’s preschool class. School board members and other community membersĀ visited all four of our early childhood buildings to read Bunny Cakes to promote early literacy.
